New XBRL Course Offered by Altova

Altova, creator of XML editor XMLSpy, has added a new online training course on XBRL to the Altova Online Training program.

The five-module course offers detailed tutorials that take users through common XBRL-related tasks via Altova’s MissionKit 2009, an integrated suite of XML, database, and XBRL tools.

Alexander Falk, president and CEO of Altova said, “Our new XBRL training course provides a comprehensive overview of XBRL, from the basics of the technology, to taxonomy editing and data validation, to XBRL data mapping and rendering, all the while highlighting how the Altova MissionKit can help to facilitate these otherwise arduous tasks. Furthermore, the course’s on-demand format gives users the flexibility to learn on their own time, at their own pace.”

The MissionKit XBRL training module provides an introduction to XBRL and an overview of the XBRL filing process. Users will learn how to create an extension taxonomy in XMLSpy; map financial data from a backend system to a taxonomy and convert it into a compliant XBRL instance document with MapForce; and then explore how to automate this process by generating royalty-free code in Java, C#, or C++. The final module focuses on XBRL report generation where users will employ StyleVision to create an XBRL report using drag and drop functionality for simultaneous output in HTML, RTF, PDF, and Word 2007 formats. There are also 30 instructional videos and interactive quizzes for each module of the XBRL course.

To access the MissionKit XBRL course or any of the other Altova Online Training offerings, go to http://www.altova.com/aot/online-training.aspx.
