Celgene Appoints General Counsel, Corporate Secretary

Celgene Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company, has appointed Thomas Moriarty as general counsel and corporate secretary. In his new role, he will be responsible for global legal strategy and serve on the company's management committee.

Moriarty joins Celgene from Medco Health Solutions, where he served as general counsel and corporate secretary since 2008. He was responsible for all legal, regulatory, public policy and corporate governance functions. He also served in various capacities at Medco since June 2000, including president of global pharmaceutical strategies, senior vice president of pharmaceutical strategies and solutions and senior vice president of business development.

Prior to joining Medco, Moriarty held a number or leadership positions in the biopharmaceutical industry including assistant general counsel at Merial Limited, Merck & Co. and Aventis Company. He also served as a senior attorney at Merck & Co.
