Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Names New General Counsel, Corporate Secretary

Scuttlebutt | July 12, 2013

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, a marketer of branded consumer products for lawn and garden care, has promoted Ivan Smith to the role of executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Smith replaces former executive vice president Vincent Brockman, who has resigned to pursue other interests.

Smith has served in increasing roles of responsibility since joining Scotts Miracle-Gro in 2003, when he came on board as associate general counsel and director of litigation. Since 2009, he most recently served as assistant general counsel and vice president, in which he provided counsel for the company's global consumer segment. In his newest position, Smith will oversee the global legal function and activities.

Earlier in his career, Smith served as a litigator at law firm Jones Day.
