John Roth, the Justice Department's special counsel for money-laundering policy in Paris and a former top member of the department's Fraud Section, is jumping over to the Food and Drug Administration to head up that agency's Office of Criminal Investigations.
Roth has been squaring off against corporate wrongdoing in one form or another for more than a decade. He worked as a top member of the Fraud Section from 2004 to 2010, before moving to Paris that year to represent the United States on the Financial Action Task Force, a multi-national effort to fight money laundering. Roth had also worked in various anti-narcotics and anti-money-laundering roles at the Justice Department in the 1990s.
