Mary Beth Taylor is the Assistant General Counsel – Compliance at United States Steel Corporation, an integrated steel producer headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In that position, she has broad responsibility for ethics and compliance issues and training corporate-wide. U. S. Steel manufactures a wide range of value-added steel sheet and tubular products for the automotive, appliance, container, industrial machinery, construction, and oil and gas industries, with major production operations in the United States, Canada and Central Europe.
She joined U. S. Steel in 1985 and has spent most of her career as a litigator, most recently as the head of the Employee Relations and Benefits group, which defended the corporation in employment discrimination and ERISA-related litigation.
Prior to joining U. S. Steel, she was an Assistant Public Defender in Allegheny County (Pennsylvania), followed by two years as an Assistant District Attorney in Westmoreland County (Pennsylvania). She received her juris doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1983. Before attending law school, Mary Beth worked as a general assignment reporter for a newspaper in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
She is a member of the Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel, including its Ethics and Compliance Committee.
