Deleting Uber

I don’t use the ride-hailing service Uber that much, but I am a fan of it. Where I live, the local taxi services are okay, but my experience riding in Uber cars is simply much better. Nicer cars, more responsive service, friendlier drivers, the works. Plus, the way the app works on my phone makes hailing and paying for rides a snap. I just love it.  If only I could feel the same way about the company.

Recently, I had my first really bad experience with Uber. I used it for a long ride back from the airport, and my driver took the longest route home possible, made pitstops along the way, and tried to increase my fare once the ride had been completed. Furious, I contacted Uber and complained. Uber rescinded the entire charge, which satisfied me. But during that brief window of time between when I complained and when I was refunded, I could only dwell on how many times we have covered Uber in Compliance Week.
