On banning bump stocks

Compliance Week tends to focus on the compliance needs of highly regulated public companies, and in that, few industries fit that bill better than the firearms manufacturing industry, which has a considerable compliance profile. It is a profile hugely magnified whenever held up to the gun control debate in the U.S., and especially following any kind of gun-related tragedy, such as the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas. Amid so much emotion, turmoil and argument that follows such events, it is important to remember that there are often important compliance concerns within that apply to all industries and all compliance practitioners.

Even by American mass shooting standards, the Mandalay Bay massacre in Las Vegas stands out not just as the deadliest in American history.
