Newmont Mining FCPA case ends in declination

Newmont Mining said in a quarterly filing this week that it will not be facing an enforcement action from the Department of Justice regarding a previously disclosed investigation into potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

As Compliance Week previously reported, Newmont Mining said in a securities filing in April 2016 that it was conducting an investigation, with the assistance of outside counsel, relating to certain business activities of the company, its affiliates, and contractors in countries outside the United States.

The gold mining company added that the investigation included a review of compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other applicable laws and regulations.
