Justice Department Civil Division Names Acting Assistant AG

Scuttlebutt | September 15, 2014

The Department of Justice has appointed Joyce Branda as acting assistant attorney general for the Civil Division.

Branda succeeds Stuart Delery, who was appointed acting associate attorney general on Sept. 5, as the agency’s third-ranking post awaits a formal nomination by President Barack Obama.

“Over the last three years, Joyce has led the Civil Division’s Commercial Litigation Branch to some of the largest settlements in its history—a track record of exemplary enforcement that I'm certain she will build upon in her new role,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement.

Picking up where Delery left off, Branda will focus on cases involving national security, health and safety, financial fraud, and more.
