Issuers Will Pay Less for SEC Filing Fees in Fiscal Year 2014

After enduring a price spike last year, companies won't have to shell out as much to the Securities and Exchange Commission for filing fees in the months ahead.

The SEC has announced what companies will need to pay for fees in fiscal year 2014. Public companies and other issuers that register their securities will be assessed $128.80 per million dollars, a decrease from the current rate of $136.40 per million dollars. The decrease, roughly 6 percent, is welcome news for issuers who were hit with a 19 percent hike last year when fees rose from $114.60 per million. The Commission determined the new rate after consulting with the Congressional Budget Office and the Office of Management and Budget.
