OSHA Seeks Comments on Whistleblower Guidance for Employers

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is seeking public comments on a draft document intended to provide guidance to employers on preventing retaliation against whistleblowers.

OSHA said it is especially interested in comments related to ensuring that:

  • Anti-retaliation concepts are described clearly;
  • Important features of an anti-retaliation program are included;
  • Challenges in implementing these practices are addressed; and
  • Issues specific to small businesses are addressed.

OSHA said it is hoping to receive comments from a wide range of stakeholders.  Comments, which will be accepted until Jan. 19, 2016, should be submitted through regulations.gov. Any questions may be directed to Meghan Smith, smith.meghan.p@dol.gov.
