Alison Taylor on CEO activism, social responsibility

Tom Fox | February 25, 2019

Welcome to Compliance Week’s “Top Minds in Compliance” podcast—our weekly conversation with a leader in the compliance field. This week, columnist Tom Fox chats with Alison Taylor, managing director at Business for Social Responsibility.

At BSR, the focus of Taylor’s work is on corporate social responsibility and sustainability. She discusses the importance of CEO activism in today’s political and economic environment and the complex calculations regarding reputation and risk that come with taking a public stance.

“It is becoming much harder for companies to stay neutral and stay in the middle, because silence and neutrality can itself mean taking a position,” Taylor says.
