Marianne Ibrahim on conducting a third party audit

Tom Fox | March 18, 2019

Welcome to Compliance Week’s “Top Minds in Compliance” podcast—our weekly conversation with a leader in the compliance field. This week, columnist Tom Fox chats with Marianne Ibrahim, director of global compliance at Baker Hughes, a GE company.

Ibrahim offers several best practices for the auditing of third parties through her experience at Baker Hughes. She explains how her audit team is assembled and each member’s role, discusses the company’s process of determining which third party to audit, and stresses the importance of conducting the audit in a way that reassures all involved they’re on the same team.

“We do not conduct this as an investigative interview. This is an exploratory interview—we really try to get them to open up and be comfortable with our line of questioning,” says Ibrahim.
