Drugstore chain Rite Aid announced the appointment of Paul Gilbert as general counsel and corporate secretary. As general counsel, Gilbert will serve on Rite Aid’s executive and senior leadership teams and assume control over the organization’s legal efforts.

Gilbert joined Rite Aid in an interim role on May 21 to assist with the company’s virtual annual meeting of stockholders and other governance matters. He has also offered strategic guidance on a variety of business initiatives as the company continues its RxEvolution strategy.

Before joining Rite Aid, Gilbert was a corporate healthcare partner at Epstein Becker & Green. Prior to that, he served for more than 10 years as the executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate governance officer at LifePoint Health.
