Anacostia Rail Holdings, a short line railroad holding company, has appointed Mark Sidman to the newly-created position of general counsel, effective as of Jan. 1. His responsibilities include legal guidance, regulatory matters, transaction negotiations and other related matters.

Sidman has advised transportation and railroad clients for over 30 years. Previously, he served as partner, founder and transportation leader of law firm Weiner Brodsky Sidman Kider. In this firm, he represented Anacostia and many other short line railroads, trade associations and transportation-related businesses.

Earlier in his career, Sidman served as special assistant to the executive vice president of the U.S. Railway Association.
