Companies have a new tool at their disposal as they trace the use of conflict minerals in their supply chain, validate smelters, and meet the Securities and Exchange Commission’s requirements for disclosing those efforts.
The new Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT), version 3.02, is now available from the Conflict Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI). The free, standardized reporting template was developed by the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative to facilitate the transfer of information through the supply chain regarding mineral country of origin and smelters and refiners being utilized. The template also expedites the identification of new smelters and refiners that may potentially undergo an audit through the CFSI’s Conflict-Free Smelter Program.
