The UK government has published its anti-money laundering and asset recovery (AMLAR) strategy, which sets out a multi-agency, cross-regulatory response to money laundering and criminal asset recovery over the next three years.

AMLAR forms part of the governmentโ€™s overall approach to economic crime, as set out in the forthcoming Economic Crime Plan 2026-29. It sits alongside the UK Fraud Strategy published six months ago, which attempts to clamp down on crime that costs the UK ยฃ14 billion ($18.7 billion) a year, as well as the UK Anti-Corruption Strategy unveiled at the end of 2025, which includes some 123 commitments across government.
