This week, columnist Tom Fox chats with Jay Martin, the associate general counsel and chief compliance officer at Baker Hughes, a GE company.

Martin and his team identified the need to have regional coverage in addition to worldwide at Baker Hughes. The company created “Compliance Review Boards” consisting of leadership in each region that allowed Martin to better assess risk and support each region without having a negative impact on day-to-day operations. Martin details the benefits the system has had regarding communication between regions and senior management and how the company has applied changes to continue improving the committees.
