In her first public remarks just three weeks into her new role as principal deputy associate attorney general, Claire McCusker Murray shared in a keynote address Monday at Compliance Week 2019 what the Department of Justice is doing to promote and incentivize corporate compliance—and even gave a teaser of forthcoming priorities relevant to the legal and compliance community.
“A corporate defendant’s approach to compliance is highly relevant to our enforcement decisions,” Murray stressed. “A fair resolution frequently requires an understanding of the compliance function at the time of the conduct at issue and any subsequent remedial steps that have been taken by the company.”
