Netherlands-based Aegon, a multinational life insurance, pensions and asset management company, has appointed Allegra van Hövell-Patrizi as chief risk officer and member of the management board, effective Jan. 1, 2016. van Hövell-Patrizi's appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

van Hövell-Patrizi's responsibilities will include managing Aegon's risk and actuarial functions, together with overseeing the group's risk structuring and transfer capabilities. She joins Aegon from Prudential, where she was group risk director, having previously held various risk management positions.

van Hövell-Patrizi will assume the chief risk officer role from Tom Grondin, who has served in that position since 2003. He will become chief financial officer for Aegon's operations in Asia and will step down from Aegon's management board, which he has been on since 2013.
