Aker Solutions, a global provider of products, systems and services to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Tore Sjursen as executive vice president for operational improvement and risk management, effective April 1.

Sjursen will be responsible for the corporate center functions enterprise risk management; tendering and corporate risk committee; health, safety and environment; quality and performance; and operational audit. He will also be responsible for developing and coordinating company-wide improvement agendas, monitoring business area improvement initiatives and reporting on progress to the board of directors.

Sjursen, who has headed the Aker's maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) business since 2010, has been with the company for 28 years. Assuming his role as head of MMO will be Knut Sandvik, senior vice president for major sub-sea projects.

Sandvik and Sjursen will report to Chief Executive Officer Luis Araujo as members of the executive management team.
