$13.1 billion cruise entertainment company Carnival Corporation has elected Admiral Sir Jonathon Band to serve on the company's boards of directors, following its annual shareholders meeting on April 13. Additionally, the company announced that Ambassador Richard Capen is retiring from the board after 16 years of service.

Band recently retired from the British Navy after 42 years of service. In 2006, he was appointed First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, the most senior officer position in the British Navy, and in 2008 he was appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath. He was also appointed Aide-de-Camp by Queen Elizabeth II.

Band will serve in a non-executive capacity on Carnival Corporation & Carnival PLC's 14-member boards, effective immediately. He will also serve on the Health, Environmental, Safety & Security Committees of each of the boards of directors.
