Endurance Specialty Holdings, a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, announced that Christopher Gallagher will assume the position of chief risk officer and group actuary.

Gallagher will transition responsibility for the company's corporate risk management function from Joan deLemps, who announced her intention to retire from Endurance earlier this year.  Gallagher's appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.

Gallagher joins Endurance from AXIS Capital, where he has served as chief risk officer for the AXIS Insurance segment since 2007, responsible for managing their risk, actuarial and catastrophe modeling functions on a global basis. From 2001, Gallagher was a senior manager with Ernst & Young, where he was a leader in their insurance and actuarial advisory practice based in London.
