The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has appointed Helen Munter as the new director of the Division of Registration and Inspections, effective March 1. She will oversee the PCAOB’s largest operating division, which conducts regular periodic inspections of hundreds of registered public accounting firms located all over the world.

Munter joined the PCAOB in 2004 as the regional director for the San Mateo office, and became deputy director in 2008. During this time, Munter led some of the Division’s largest inspections. Under her leadership, her inspection teams identified numerous accounting and auditing problems and encouraged firms to make appropriate improvements to protect investors’ interests in reliable audits.
