Research company GfK has appointed Anna Maria Vitek as senior vice president and general counsel for the Americas. Vitek is an experienced corporate attorney who also has deep expertise in compliance and corporate governance.

Vitek’s responsibilities at GfK include supervising and managing the company’s legal department in the Americas and supporting its chief legal and compliance Officer. She will also help to structure, negotiate, and document mergers and acquisitions on a global basis while managing external counsel in North America and Latin America.

Vitek joins GfK from Avon Products, where she was general counsel and chief compliance officer, Latin America. During her tenure at Avon, Vitek served as lead counsel for mergers and acquisitions, negotiated joint venture and global license agreements with major corporate partners, and established the company’s International Practice Group. She was responsible for all legal and compliance matters for Latin America, Avons's largest and most profitable region.

Prior to joining Avon, Vitek was an associate in the corporate and litigation departments at the international law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton. She began her legal career as a Law Clerk in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York.
