The University of Southern California announced the appointment of Beong-Soo Kim as senior vice president and general counsel, effective July 1.

Kim joins USC from healthcare consortium Kaiser Permanente, where he worked as vice president and assistant general counsel, litigation for nearly six years. His previous experience includes nearly a decade with the Department of Justice, where he progressed to chief of the Major Frauds Section.

USC’s Office of the General Counsel is responsible for addressing legal issues arising out of the activities of the university, Keck Medicine of USC, and other USC-owned entities. The office consists of in-house attorneys, including several specializing in health law, and support staff partnering with outside law firms.
