Financial services firm Barclays announced the appointment of Taalib Shaah as group chief risk officer, subject to regulatory approvals. Shaah will join the Executive Committee of Barclays and report to Group Chief Executive Jes Staley upon the expected start of his role Oct. 5.

Shaah is currently the chief risk officer for Barclays International, which encompasses the Corporate & Investment Bank, as well as the group’s international cards and payments business. He joined Barclays in the role of chief risk officer for the Investment Bank, Non-Core, and Treasury in 2014.

In his new role, Shaah replaces C.S. Venkatakrishnan, who moves to take on a new group ExCo level remit with the bank.
