Jennifer Schmidt, chief compliance officer at Burke & Herbert Financial Services Corp., was appointed chief risk officer after the bank merged with Summit Financial Group, according to a public filing.

Burke & Herbert announced the merger in a press release Thursday.

Schmidt brings two decades of enterprise risk management, consumer compliance, Bank Secrecy Act, audit, and regulatory affairs experience, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Before serving with Burke & Herbert in roles of increasing responsibility, she held executive positions with Capital One, including leading a “large bank-wide compliance assessment and remediation program.”
