Charter Communications announced the appointment of Jamal Haughton as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Nov. 6.

Haughton will also serve as chief legal officer. He succeeds Rick Dykhouse, who earlier this year announced his plans to retire after a 17-year-stint with Charter.

As general counsel, Haughton will serve as head of the company’s legal department and will oversee all legal functions, including corporate, commercial, transactional, litigation, product, and programming, as well as regulatory legal matters.

Haughton will join Charter from MSG Entertainment, where he has been the executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He served as senior vice president and general counsel at Samsung Electronics America and also as Samsung’s chief legal officer for the United States from 2016-21.
