Consultant Berkeley Research Group (BRG) announced the hiring of former Cigna Global Chief Compliance Officer Tom O’Neil to be a managing director in its Health Analytics practice.

O’Neil, who will be based in Washington D.C., has worked with BRG over the past decade on a number of governance, compliance, and regulatory enforcement matters. In addition to his most recent role at Cigna, O’Neil held a number of other positions at public companies, including executive vice chairman, general counsel and secretary of WellCare Health Plans and senior vice president and general counsel of the MCI Group.

O’Neil also was a partner at two global law firms: DLA Piper and Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells). He was founder and president of strategic consulting firm The Saranac Group. Earlier in his career, O’Neil served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Maryland.
