Manufacturing company Mativ Holdings announced the appointment of Mark Johnson as chief legal officer, general counsel, and secretary, effective Sept. 1.

Johnson will report directly to Julie Schertell, chief executive.

He joins the company from Kimball International, where he served as executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. At Kimball, Johnson oversaw securities; ethics and compliance; mergers and acquisitions; litigation; intellectual property protection; regulatory matters; and environmental, social, and governance activities.

He brings previous leadership experience from his time at Newell Brands and was a commercial litigation associate for McGuire Woods.

Johnson succeeds Ricardo Nuñez, chief legal officer, secretary, and chief compliance officer. Nuñez was terminated without cause after a change of control, according to a public filing.
