ScanSource, an information technology services and consulting company, announced the appointment of Shana Cochrane Smith as senior executive vice president and chief legal officer.

Smith brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate counsel and leadership to the role and will be responsible for driving global corporate legal strategy, overseeing all legal aspects of the company, and ensuring corporate compliance. She will report to Mike Baur, chairman and chief executive.

Previously, Smith served as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for NII Holdings, where she was responsible for advising senior management and the board of directors on all legal matters.

Prior to NII, Smith was corporate counsel for Sprint Nextel, where she assisted with mergers, restructuring, and financing events. Her experience also includes leading and directing legal strategies and initiatives, ethics and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, finance, and tax compliance.
