Digital payments provider Sionic announced the appointment of Susan Currey as chief compliance officer.

Currey will be responsible for evaluating risk, establishing corporate governance, and overseeing the regulatory framework for the company’s payments platform and real-time payments services. She will report directly to Ronald Herman, founder and chief executive.

With more than 15 years of risk and compliance experience in banking and financial technology, Currey joins the company from PayPal. At PayPal, she led a global team focused on consumer compliance, global financial crimes, and operational and information security/privacy reviews. Additionally, she will develop and execute risk and compliance management and testing programs.
