Compliance Week’s Inside the Mind of the CCO reveals stubborn gender pay gap

Despite years of attention, male compliance professionals remain more highly compensated than women, according to the sixth annual Compliance Week Inside the Mind of the CCO survey.

The average salary among the 79 compliance professionals who provided compensation information, was $235,247, far lower than in previous years. The reason for the salary drop is unclear, but the fact that a larger number of compliance professionals from small companies participated, and more women provided salary information, compared to past years, certainly could be factors.

Of the 217 CCOs/CECOs overall who participated in the survey, 140 identified as women, 85 as men and two as nonbinary or declined to say, a rate that was similar to other years of the ITM survey.
