Marsh & McLennan Companies, a global professional services firm, has appointed Katherine Brennan as deputy general counsel, corporate secretary, and chief compliance officer. Her appointment becomes effective Oct. 18.

Brennan will report to Marsh & McLennan Executive Vice President and General Counsel Peter Beshar.

From 2008 to 2015, Brennan served in a number of leadership roles at Marsh & McLennan, including as general counsel of Guy Carpenter, and senior corporate counsel and assistant corporate secretary. For the past two years, Brennan has served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at S&P Global (formerly McGraw Hill Financial).
