The Institute of Internal Auditors–Canada, has appointed Shelley Pelkey as IIA–Canada’s executive director. In her new role, Pelkey will oversee services for IIA members in Canada and coordinate programs with 12 Canada IIA chapters.

Pelkey is the former executive director of the Certified Management Accountants (CMA) New Brunswick and brings more than 25 years of professional management experience, including 15 years overseeing membership growth of CMA New Brunswick that more than doubled during her tenure. She introduced strategy mapping and risk management planning to the organization and developed partnerships with major employers and universities.

Under Pelkey’s leadership, CMA New Brunswick made significant improvements in program accessibility and retention, including a French-language offering, distance education, coaching and program extensions. Prior to joining CMA New Brunswick, Pelkey worked in various accounting and marketing roles.
