Nordis Direct, an independent business solution provider, has appointed Natalie Foster Johnson to the post of HIPAA compliance officer.

Johnson's appointment comes at a time when Nordis Direct continues to roll out its communications management and e-bill presentment and payment platforms to medical billing providers, hospitals, and other healthcare businesses. As a HIPAA-compliant organization, Nordis Direct must conform to the guidelines and compliance requirements set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), established to ensure increased security and accountability with regard to a patient's Protected Health Information (PHI).

To ensure that Nordis Direct safeguards the information entrusted to them and their clients, Johnson works with the company's senior management to ensure proper protocols and HIPAA compliance programs are in place throughout the organization. Her responsibilities include identifying potential risks, implementing the proper safeguards and procedures to minimize these possibilities, and providing ongoing education for employees.

Johnson joined Nordis Direct in May as a project manager for the Expresso business unit. She specializes in web-based applications, project management, change management and business analysis. Previous companies Johnson worked with include Citrix, JM Family Enterprises, and independent consulting with NFJ Solutions.
