Walgreens Boots Alliance has named Kimberly Scardino as its new senior vice president, global controller, and chief accounting officer.

Scardino joins the company from American Express Company, where she was senior vice president, business advisory controller. Prior to her current role, she was senior vice president and Americas controller from June 2012 to March 2015. Previously, she served in roles of increasing responsibility since 2006, including vice president, global head of SOX compliance and vice president and chief accounting officer of American Express Credit Corp. She also served in accounting functions at Credit Suisse Group from 2004 to 2006, and at Lyondell Chemical Company from 2002 to 2004. She started her career at Arthur Andersen, where she was an auditor from 1994 to 2002.

Scardino reports to George Fairweather, executive vice president and global chief financial officer.

Walgreens Boots Alliance was created through the combination of Walgreens and Alliance Boots in December 2014. The company employs more than 370,000 people in more than 25 countries. Its portfolio of retail and business brands includes Walgreens, Duane Reade, Boots, and Alliance Healthcare.
