Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Mark Smith as its new group chief risk officer, based in London. Pam Walkden will continue as interim group chief risk officer until Smith joins the bank in January 2016.

Mark joins the bank from HSBC Bank, where he is currently chief risk officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa and global head of wholesale credit and traded risk.

In his new role, Smith will be responsible for managing credit, market, and operational risk across the group. He will report directly to group Chief Executive Officer Bill Winters as a member of the bank’s recently announced management team.
