A former executive at Mayo Clinic has accused the organization of using AI tools that compromised patient privacy, manipulated data, and blew past institutional review protocols.

Traci Tamiko Eto, formerly the organizationโ€™s director of research and its Artificial Intelligence (AI) compliance lead, filed a whistleblower complaint against Mayo Clinic in July claiming to have uncovered โ€œa disturbing set of flaws in Mayoโ€™s AI compass,โ€ during her 18-month tenure, according to a lawsuit that was first reported July 9 by MPR News. She also alleged she was retaliated against for bringing up her concerns, which ended with her job being eliminated.
