The U.S. Department of Justice under new Attorney General Pam Bondi will de-emphasize white collar misconduct linked to bribes and foreign corruption, instead prioritizing corruption cases linked to human smuggling and the trafficking of narcotics and firearms.
According to a DOJ memo dated Tuesday that was obtained by Bloomberg Law, the DOJโs Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Unit will โshift focus away from investigations and cases that do not have such a connectionโ to bribery that facilitates the operations of criminal cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), Bondi wrote.
