The U.S. government shutdown has brought most operations at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to a screeching halt, but that doesn’t mean compliance teams should be taking a breather, experts advised.

The federal government was shuttered October 1, when Congress was unable to agree on an appropriations package to keep the government running. Most government agencies closed their doors and furloughed all but “critical” staff.
