Alta Mesa Resources, an independent energy company, has appointed Kimberly Warnica as vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer, and corporate secretary. She will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Hal Chappelle.

Warnica has significant transactional, litigation, securities, and corporate governance experience. She joins the company from Marathon Oil, where she served as assistant general counsel and assistant secretary.  Prior to Marathon Oil, she was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary for Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas and began her career prior to that with Andrews Kurth, where she practiced corporate and securities law representing a variety of clients in numerous transactional, securities and corporate governance matters.
