Eight business executives, including the billionaire owner of Indian energy company Adani Group, were charged with fraud for their alleged roles in a multi-million bribery scheme to win a solar energy contract in India.

The allegations by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) against Gautam Adani, CEO of Adani Group, a billionaire and one of the world’s richest men, have been percolating for months. Even so, the charges describe a scheme that is astonishing in its size and scope.
