U.S. bribery risk landscape in 2023: TRACE Matrix, Corruption Risk Forecast

Analyzing the results of two recent reports offers an understanding of the U.S. landscape around anti-bribery efforts entering 2023 and where elevated risks might lie.

The United States improved seven spots in the 2022 TRACE Bribery Risk Matrix released in November. This year’s ranking—16th out of 194 countries—places the United States in better position compared to recent years regarding the current bribery risk landscape.

TRACE International first launched its Bribery Risk Matrix in 2014, providing chief compliance officers a broader overview of commercial bribery risk worldwide. To arrive at each country’s score, the matrix analyzes four specific domains:
