Avant, an online lending platform, has appointed Grant Miles, a financial industry veteran with global banking giant HSBC, as chief risk officer. Miles has served as a special advisor to Avant for the past two years on areas ranging from risk management and underwriting to quantitative methods and modeling.

Miles has over 33 years of industry experience including several roles with HSBC North America Limited and HSBC Holdings London. He most recently served as chief risk officer and executive vice president for HSBC's U.S. Consumer and Mortgage Lending businesses.
