A “massive” surge in corporate leadership in adopting artitifical intelligence (AI) has been coupled with gaps in AI guardrails, according to a former Google executive speaking at a Compliance Week event on AI use in compliance.

“There is a lot of movement, but a lack of AI governance,” said Jen Gennai, former founder and leader of responsible AI at Google, speaking Wednesday at Compliance Week’s conference, The Leading Edge: Applying AI and Data Analytics in E&C.

Gennai, currently a partner and head of responsible AI and AI risk management at T3, said, “These challenges are certainly worth pushing through,” because the rewards of AI can be significant.
