Tractor Supply Company has agreed to get into compliance with California’s consumer privacy law and to pay a $1.35 million fine—the largest yet by California—to settle allegations it violated the privacy rights of customers and job applicants.
California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which is considered the most stringent consumer privacy law in the U.S., has required since 2023 that large companies doing business in the state to seek permission from customers, employees and job applicants before collecting, selling or sharing their personal information, as well as to notify them of their privacy rights.
