On February 3-4, "Madoff," ABC's miniseries on Bernard Madoff's massive Ponzi scheme, will be aired at 8 pm Eastern. Madoff stars Richard Dreyfuss as Bernie Madoff and Blythe Danner as his wife, Ruth. According to ABC, "Madoff will follow the prodigious rise and abrupt demise of the former investment advisor and the subsequent fallout with his family, associates and investors." The miniseries, which is based on Brian Ross's book, The Madoff Chronicles, promises to explores the "complicated family dynamics" in the Madoff family and to "expose the motivations and mechanics behind the monumental fraud."

As I noted here, this is not the only Madoff movie coming down the pipe. In August 2015, HBO confirmed that it is proceeding with a film on the Madoff scandal based on Diana B. Henriques' book, Wizard of Lies. The HBO film will star Robert De Niro as Bernie Madoff and Michelle Pfeiffer as Ruth Madoff. From what I've seen, Dreyfuss, De Niro, Danner and Pfeiffer all seem like inspired choices for these roles and bear strong resemblances to the Madoffs (although the 57-year-old Pfeiffer is somewhat of a spring chicken to play the 70-something Ruth Madoff).
