Tom Hardin AKA “Tipper X” went from a young trader with his whole career ahead of him to an inside trader who got caught, acted as a Federal Bureau of Investigation informant for two years, and pleaded guilty to a felony.

Today, he has ample advice for compliance professionals, to help keep people from making the bad decisions he did. During his presentation to a packed room at Compliance Week’s National Conference on Wednesday, Hardin urged compliance officers to present themselves to employees not as police or protectors of the firm but as protectors of careers.
